October 2025 high was above $126,000. The drawdown into mid-2026 tracks the rhythm bitcoin has repeated after every halving since 2012 — which is a pattern, not a mechanism, and it cuts both ways as an argument.
The August rally is led by regulation and rates, not by adoption or on-chain demand. A squeeze that has already fired is spent fuel; a rulemaking still in its comment period is not.
The SEC's market-structure proposal remains just that -- a proposal, with 60 days of comments to run before anything is final, the one regulatory lever still standing after the CLARITY Act's cloture failure on 15 September.
The rally met its first real technical resistance on 25 August: an intraday high of $81,265 was rejected at the 50-week moving average and price fell back under $80,000. Whether that level holds on a retest is now an open question the squeeze itself doesn't answer.
